This elementary course is directed to people who do not know any Spanish. Its objective is to give students essential language tools so that they are able to interact in simple daily life situations.
The course is divided into 3 modules, each focuses on the development of different but complementary language abilities. The three of them introduce students to the vocabulary, grammar and usage of Spanish through the practice and development of the four abilities: listening, speaking, reading and writing. All activities are intended to resemble social and work-related environments in order to allow the students to practice the language in real life situations. The course also presents significant aspects of Chilean culture and idiosyncrasy as these contents help students learn Spanish while living in Chile.
The course is open to any person interested in learning Spanish at Universidad de Chile. It meets twice a week for a total of 4.5 hours weekly and extends along a semester of 15 weeks.
